Questions, answered.
Hiring, pricing, vetting and working together, in plain English. Can’t find yours? A hiring lead will answer it.
Getting started
01How fast can I hire?
You get a shortlist of 3 to 4 hand-picked engineers within 48 hours. Most clients interview within 1 to 3 days, and your engineer starts within a week.
02How fast do I get a shortlist?
Within 48 hours. You get 3 to 4 engineers who match your stack, seniority and hours.
03Do I interview the engineers myself?
Yes. You meet the engineers you like and pick your fit. Most clients interview within 1 to 3 days.
04Are these the engineers I will get?
They are real engineers from our directory who match each seat today. We confirm availability and send a shortlist within 48 hours.
Vetting and quality
01How do you vet engineers?
Four human-led stages: a profile deep dive, a communication check, a technical interview with senior engineers and a final approval. Only the top 1.5% of applicants are published.
02What if it doesn’t work out?
Tell us and we replace your engineer at no extra cost. You can also pause or end the engagement with the notice period in your contract. If you want extra safety from day one, choose two risk-free weeks when you sign: if it is not right within the first 14 days, you pay nothing for those days.
Pricing and billing
01How much does a Dev-Hire engineer cost?
Typical all-inclusive monthly rates are $2,500-3,700 for mid-level, $3,500-4,900 for senior and $4,900-6,900 for lead engineers, full time. You see each engineer’s monthly rate on their profile. There are no placement fees, and you pay month to month.
02Are there placement or setup fees?
No. You pay one all-inclusive monthly rate, month to month. There is no placement fee and no long contract.
03How do you calculate the in-house comparison?
We take a typical US salary for the role and seniority, add 30% for benefits, taxes and equipment, and divide by 12. It is an estimate to help you compare, not a quote.
04Can I change hours or pause?
Yes. Move between full and part time or pause at the end of any month. If an engineer is not the right fit, we replace them at no extra cost.
Working together
01Will the engineer work in my time zone?
Yes. Every engineer commits to overlapping your working day, typically 4 hours or more, and joins your standups and meetings.
02What hours do engineers work?
Every engineer overlaps at least 4 hours with your working day and joins your standups.
03Who owns the code and IP?
You do. Our contract assigns all work product and IP to you, and every engineer is under NDA from day one.
Teams and projects
01How big can a team be?
From 1 to 10 engineers. Most teams start with 2 to 4 and grow as the work does.
02What is the difference between dedicated and managed?
A dedicated team works under your lead. A managed team adds a Dev-Hire delivery lead who runs sprints, demos and reporting for $1,500 a month.
03What kinds of projects do you build?
Web apps, mobile apps, AI features, internal tools and online stores, from a first MVP to modernising an existing product.
04Can you work on our existing codebase?
Yes. We start with a short review of your code and add about two weeks for onboarding.
05Is the estimate a quote?
No. It is a typical range for projects like yours. After a 30-minute call we send a written proposal with a fixed price or a time-and-materials estimate.
